Driver For a Fiver
Ever wanted to drive a locomotive?
FHR Driving Experience
One of the staple attractions at many of our events is "Driver For a Fiver",
this is a supervised activity where members of the public are given the chance to drive one of our diesel locomotives on an area of track which closely follows the mainline into Leven.

The locomotive that you will be taking control of will be North British Locomotive Co. No.400 "River Eden", this locomotive spent a number of years working for the Royal Air Force at the Leuchars base in Fife, whilst at the RAF base Eden was used to transport large tanks of aviation fuel.

This once in a lifetime opportunity is available at most of our open days, simply go to the ticket office and enquire about this activity. Once you have done that and paid you will be handed a high visibility vest to wear, it is important that this is worn for the safety of you and those around you, you will then be directed by one of our volunteers to the locomotive and the fun can begin!

It is of high importance that you follow any rules regarding what you can and cannot do whilst taking part in the driving experience.

Driver For a Fiver will next be running during the following event:
Running Day (Sunday 29th September)
