Diesel Day

Sunday 28th July
11:00 - 16:00

Soak up the sounds and smells of our mighty diesel

fleet at an event dedicated to them!

We have a number of powerful diesel locomotives onsite, all of which have their own rich history. On July 28th you will get the chance to see these work horses in action as they haul our one of a kind Norwegian passenger coach on trains.

If taking a trip behind one of our diesels isn't enough then why not drive one. Our ex RAF locomotive "River Eden" will be used to operate our very popular Driver For a Fiver supervised experience. Simply just pay at our ticket office on the day and you will be escorted into the yard area where the train will be waiting for you.

One of the diesels you will see on the day has made a recent claim to fame, Ruston no.4 has just been released by Hornby in the form of a OO gauge model train. During the early production stages of the model Hornby studied the paint work applied to the real loco, painted by FHR members, and now the models have hit the selves of model railway shops and websites up and down the UK.

And yes, you guessed right, most of the FHR members have their own models of the train now too.

However, we have one left which we will be giving

away to the lucky winner of a competition taking

place at this event, more details on this will be

revealed on the day so be sure to stick around until

the end of the day.

There will also be a free vintage shuttle bus running between Cameron Bridge station and our site

throughout the day.

No Entry Fee

Train Ticket (Adult): £6 Per Person

Train Ticket (Child): £3 Per Person

Art & Hobbies

Sunday 25th August
11:00 to 16:00

We have expanded this event to appeal to more folk. The theme is now “Art & Hobbies” and we are cordially inviting local groups to come along and showcase their hobby or activity at our new visitors’ centre - The Hub - for the day.

Anyone wishing to participate in this event should get in touch as soon as possible as space is fairly limited. There will be no stallholder charge for this event, however, donations are always very welcome.

Any community group seeking a small space to promote themselves or display something should get in touch via our website (fifeheritagerailway.co.uk/contactus). We can then discuss what you have in mind. We will be delighted to arrange a site visit and show you our new facilities at The Hub.

The Hub is the former Network Rail offices erected on our site for the Levenmouth Rail Project. Ownership of this complex has now been transferred to the FHR and will become a centrepiece as our visitors’ centre.

At Kirkland station you will be able to board our one of a kind Norwegian passenger coach and go for a trip up our line behind one of our diesel locomotives, unfortunately our steam train will no longer be in service at this event.

Doors Open Day

Sat 7th & Sun 8th September
11:00 to 16:00

We are pleased to announce that for the first time since 2019 we will be taking part in "doors open day" at

The Fife Heritage Railway.

On this September weekend we will be opening up as much of the site as we can so that you will have the chance to see behind the scenes and get to know just how challenging it can be to keep things on track.

There will be a mix of diesel and steam locomotives, and rolling stock on display indoors and outdoors. As well as that you’ll also get the chance to be among some of our first visitors to step onboard our ex Network Rail electric multiple unit “313121” which was used for testing signals on the mainlines of England, this is one of only two class 313s left in existence.

Our onsite shop will be open for all your train related item needs and our cafe for sweet treats and drinks.

Limited parking is available on site but there will also be a vintage shuttle bus running from the near by new Cameron Bridge train station where free parking is also available, the bus will also be an option of travel for those coming to the event by train from Edinburgh and other areas of Fife.

We look forward to welcoming you to this event...
